Tips for Your Family, Newborn, or Maternity Studio Photography Session
Choosing a studio session is a beautiful way to capture timeless, light-filled portraits. Whether you are celebrating a new baby, marking a milestone, or gathering the family together, the studio gives us a clean and simple backdrop to focus on what matters most: you and your connections.
Here is everything you need to know before arriving for your session:
Finding the Studio
The studio is located at 18.5 S Main Street, Fortville, Indiana 46040. You will find free public parking along Main Street or in the lot across from the Fortville Post Office.
When you arrive, look for the glass door to the right of Bonsai Restaurant. It is marked LOFT 18. The studio is on the second floor. Please note there is no elevator. Once upstairs, you will see the doors labeled for Studio A or B. I will let you know in advance which studio we are using.
What to Expect When You Arrive
The studio is filled with beautiful natural light and minimal props in the shooting areas, which gives us clean, timeless portraits. Other areas of the studio have various props and furniture, so it can feel a bit crowded outside of the main shooting space. Since the studio is not toddler-proof, I recommend bringing an extra set of hands if you have little ones who like to explore. A small playpen or a parent dedicated to watching them can be very helpful.
There is a restroom downstairs if you need a quick break, and changing areas are available in both Studio A and Studio B if you would like to bring along an outfit change. I will confirm which studio we will be using once you book your session.
A few helpful notes
- Snacks and drinks: To keep the studio space clean for all families, food and drinks are not allowed inside the studio. Water bottles are fine. You are welcome to bring snacks for your little ones and enjoy them in the waiting area outside the studio if a kiddo needs a break. Exceptions are made for cake smash sessions.
- Pets: The studio is pet-free, so you do not have to worry about animals being in the space.
- Music: Feel free to send me your family’s favorite Spotify playlist before our session so we can play it and set the perfect tone!
- Safety: For the safety of everyone, please no jumping on the bed or running around in the studio. I will help your little ones have a fun time and find other ways to play.
Preparing your family
The studio offers a quiet, neutral environment, which makes it easy for everyone to settle in. I will guide you through everything, whether it is cozy lifestyle poses on the couch, classic backdrop portraits, or snuggly newborn images. Bring anything you need to help your little ones feel comfortable like a favorite toy or blanket. I also make sure we take breaks whenever needed.
Keeping it playful
Studio sessions do not have to be stiff or serious. Little moments of connection and playfulness, such as tickles, peek-a-boo, or whispered secrets, create natural and joyful moments. I will also pose and guide everyone throughout the session, ensuring a balanced approach where your family looks its best while still feeling relaxed and authentic.
After your session
When we finish, you can collect any personal items you brought with you. I will take care of resetting the studio. Afterward, I will be in touch to share your gallery and guide you through the next steps so you can enjoy your images.
